La Farga has as its corporate purpose the production and sale of semi-finished copper products (Copper Wire Rods, Billets, Copper Wire Drawings, Railway Products). La Farga supplies innovative products that meet the demanding needs of the copper sector, needs that require constant development of new products and materials in order to be applied to all the spheres of our current society. The products are aimed at both the home and international market and give our clients the possibility of working with the most specialised technology in the sphere of copper and its alloys. La Farga, with the collaboration of universities and technological centres around the country, is constantly investigating new applications for copper alloys and the improvement in the properties of the current products.
Previous relevant experience related to the project’s aims:
La Farga has a substantial number of R+D projects supported by different Spanish and European R+D Programs. Extensive work has been done by La Farga in Cu substrates for superconducting tapes in the mark of a European Program “Novel SOL GEL Technology for long length superconductivity coasted tapes” (G5RD-CT-2001-00550). Therefore, La Farga has already experience in the preparation and characterization of substrates for superconducting tapes. La Farga has also experience in scaling up research projects to industrialisation.
Profile of staff members involved in the project:
- Miquel Garcia, is the General Manager of La Farga. He is Chemist, specialized in metallurgy, and has experience as Quality and Wire Drawing Manager. He has participated in the European Project “Novel SOL GEL Technology for long length superconductivity coasted tapes”.
- Núria Ferrer is the R&D Manager. She is technical Industrial Engineer, and has experience in improving the mechanical and electrical properties of copper alloys. She has participated in the European Project “Novel SOL GEL Technology for long length superconductivity coasted tapes”.
- Cristina García is the Responsible of Innovation Management in La Farga. She is an Electrical Industrial Engineer and has experience in leading projects in industrial environment. She gives support to the Research and the Innovation in La Farga.
- Elena Xuriguerais the R&D Scientific Manager. She is the responsible for the contributions of LFL at the different work packages in the project. She is Chemist, specialized in metallurgy and advanced materials, and has experience in improving the mechanical properties of copper alloys and developing biaxial texture of metal substrates for coated conductors. She has worked both in the public and private sectors and has participated in the European Project “Novel SOL GEL Technology for long length superconductivity coasted tapes”.
